Route Details
It’s our 36th year, and we want to spend it someplace fun and rider friendly! We were inspired by the beautiful Nebraska Sandhills and the Niobrara National Scenic River! This area is also a destination for outdoor activities with welcoming and charming hospitality and friendly locals! TDN features a "double" format with two nights in Valentine, which is hometown to our state suds partner, Bolo Brewing Co.
Come ride with us and take in some inspiring landscapes, homegrown brewery, kayaking/tubing opportunities and hospitality only found in Western Nebraska. Note: Please enjoy reading all the tentative details about the 2024 route! All daily routes and rest stops are subject to change. |
DAY 0: Tuesday, June 25
The Night Before — Springview Springview is a charming and historic town nestled in the heart of Keya Paha County. Originally founded as a stop along the railroad, Springview quickly grew into a thriving community, serving as a hub for ranchers, farmers, and pioneers. Nature enthusiasts will find Springview to be a haven of outdoor activities and natural beauty. Bassett is a charming destination that seamlessly blends its historical roots with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. Whether exploring the town's rich history at the museum, immersing oneself in the tranquility of the Niobrara River, or experiencing the diverse ecosystems of the Wildlife Management Area, visitors are sure to find something special in this welcoming Midwestern town. Bassett to Ainsworth — 56 mi Ainsworth is a charming town nestled in the heart of Brown County, known for its rich history, friendly community, and picturesque surroundings. One of the notable local attractions in Ainsworth is the Ainsworth Depot Museum, a historic site that preserves the town's railway history. The museum showcases artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that provide a glimpse into Ainsworth's past, offering visitors a chance to step back in time and understand the town's evolution. Ainsworth to Valentine — 47 mi Valentine is nestled in the heart of the Sandhills region in Cherry County. One of the notable local attractions is the Niobrara National Scenic River, which winds its way through the region, offering breathtaking views and opportunities for outdoor activities. Canoeing, kayaking, and tubing along the pristine waters of the Niobrara River are popular among visitors seeking a tranquil escape. The Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge is another highlight, where visitors can explore the diverse ecosystems and observe native wildlife, including bison, elk, and a variety of bird species. For those interested in history, the Cherry County Historical Society Museum provides a glimpse into the past, displaying artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of the town's evolution. The Cowboy Trail, a converted rail trail, offers a scenic route for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, allowing visitors to appreciate the vastness of the Nebraska landscape. Valentine's downtown area boasts a blend of local shops, restaurants, and art galleries, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and tourists. Optional Routes: 19 miles or 53 miles Day 4 is your day. Relax, sleep in, go tubing or choose from one of our two loop ride options. Breakfast: 5:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. The tubing trip starts at 12:30 p.m. Simply, add it to your cart when you register. It's going to be a blast! Three Bridges Route: 19 miles (Go on your own. This ride is near town and there are no official rest stops.
