GRAVEL RIDE DAY 2: Thursday, June 26
Elwood to Medicine Creek State Park  — 63 miles
We'll depart Elwood after breakfast on Thursday and head southwest on scenic, all-weather gravel roads. As we leave town, we'll cross Devil’s Gap and travel through Gosper and Frontier Counties. Highlights of the route include:
• The historic Middle Creek through truss bridge
• Stowe Township Cemetery
• A stretch of the famed Nebraska State Route 18 “gravel highway”
At mile 40, we’ll arrive at our overnight destination: Medicine Creek State Park, just north of Cambridge, Nebraska. After a break and a snack, riders are encouraged to take on an optional 20-mile loop around Medicine Creek Reservoir. This loop offers more history and adventure, featuring the Medicine Creek Dam, West Lake Drive, Lime Creek, and the township of Orafino. Many roads on this loop are minimum maintenance and will be a sunny-day decision.
Once back at camp, you’ll reunite with your luggage, enjoy access to on-site showers, jump in the lake, and relax with an evening meal—served at our basecamp cabin. Gather around for campfire stories, share stories of the day, and enjoy good company.
Limited indoor camping is available upon request. UNL camp services will not be available this evening. Tent camping is included as part of the tour, but if you have guests driving in, they will need a day pass for parking.
RV camping is welcome! Be sure to reserve your spot in advance through the Nebraska State Parks website
Additionally, if you are planning on having overnight guests that are bringing their vehicles to the campground, please purchase a day pass from the self-check-in location at camp.
A small fee will be collected to cover camping, shower, and meal expenses. Full details can be found on the Tour de Nebraska BikeReg page

GRAVEL RIDE DAY 3: Friday, June 27
Medicine Creek State Park to McCook — 45.5 miles
After a light camp breakfast, we’ll cross Medicine Creek Dam and head southwest into Red Willow County. Weather permitting, we’ll take on a few stunning minimum maintenance roads on our way to join the main road tour stop in Bartley. (If conditions don’t cooperate, an all-paved option will be available!)
From Bartley, we’ll cross the Republican River, follow the Republican River to Indianola, and finish the day with a regroup point at the Red Willow Creek Diversion Dam before arriving in McCook.

• We will have oasis-style regroup points with water, snacks and hydration mix approximately every 10 miles.

• Expect some challenging climbs on both days, especially along Middle Creek Road and West Lake Drive.
